Victoria & Albert Museum
Victoria and Albert museum was started in 1852 and displays an array of decorative art and design and music by
British and American artists. It houses over 4 million items for display and Queen Victoria helped open the museum. One would expect photos of the Beatles, but there is even a photo of Black American Rock n Roll artist, Little Richard. You will also find a library of books, statue, paintings and custom designed furniture as well as Asian and Islamic art. Some art range back from thousands of years to the most recent. Some of the most interesting artifacts consisted of gigantic columns and crosses with figurines carved into every area of the piece. The carvings seem to tell a story as you look closely around the columns.
Photography is not allowed in this museum but you can always view them online. There is also a garden with an outside cafe to congregate during the warmer months as well as an indoor cafe. Like many of the museums, the V & A museum is also free to the public and is a great hangout for artists, musicians and other art lovers.
