Based from the 1860 novel by Charles Dickens, Great Expectations about an orphan named Pip who met an escaped convict in a local graveyard while visiting his deceased parents' graves. The convict forced Pip to steal food and tools for him to help the convict escape. After the convict's recapture, Pip is sent to visit Miss Havisham, a wealthy eccentric, where he eventually falls in love with her adopted daughter, Estella. Pip grows up in this environment with problems of his own, but overcomes them with the help of his “family”and other associates, including the convict he helped, Pip.
Produced by Jo Clifford and directed by Graham McLaren, the play is a dramatic combination of love and death, trials and triumph. It is also the first time this Dickens classic has ever been a full-scale West End or Broadway. This piece has had a successfully grand reception by its audience.
