The Book of Mormon
The Book of Mormon is a religious, musical comedy about a devout minister and missionary student who convinces his classmates go door-to-door with him in an attempt to convert people to Mormonism. Despite his plans to do mission work in Florida, he and another classmate are sent to Uganda instead. The pair are faced with many challenges and run ins with the Ugandan people throughout the trip, but had a somewhat happier tone as the show progressed and the people worked together to make a difference.
Originally produced by three men, Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone, this musical has many sexual innuendos and controversial satires toward religion. There were mixed responses from the Mormon community, but the musical received a wide reception and a Tony award, grossing a record-breaking 2.1 million pounds in London in 2011.
