Westminster Abbey is the most historical church in London that housed saints (both living and dead), monks and royal coronation services. Queen Elizabeth II still attends its church services, also led by the beautiful voices of its choir. For almost 1000 years, many ceremonies have been held there, including Queen Elizabeth's coronation and wedding, Princess Diana's wedding and funeral and years later, her son, Prince William and Princess Katherine's wedding.
It also houses the monument of William Shakespeare in Poets Corner. Unlike our modern day gravesites, some tombs of dignitaries are inside the church. The Abbey has many detailed designs in its structure. Some of its Medieval architecture remains hidden, while some of it has been revealed and restored.
Westminster Abbey is always open to visitors daily throughout the year and holds worship services on Sundays and religious holidays such as Easter and Christmas.
